Library
The Library is your personal collection of media — every photo, video clip, and custom icon you upload lives here. Once something is in your Library, you can reuse it anywhere: as an overlay on the video, or as a symbol on the map. In the editor you can open it any time by pressing L.
What you can store
- Photos – the images from your trip
- Videos – short clips to feature alongside the map
- Icons – custom markers you've made or uploaded
- 3D models – your own vehicle, travelling the route
3D models work a little differently from the rest: you build one from four photos of your vehicle, or import a GLB file you already have. The 3D Models page walks through both.
Uploading
Adding media is simple — drag your files in or click to select them, and they appear in your Library, ready to use.
You can upload images (PNG, JPEG, HEIC, WEBP, and SVG) and videos (MP4, MOV, WEBM, MPEG, and OGG). AvoMap takes care of the technical side for you:
- Large photos are optimized automatically so your project stays fast.
- Photos from phones and cameras (including newer formats) are handled for you.
- Where a photo includes location info, AvoMap can even use it to place things on the map.
Trimming a video clip
When you use a video as an overlay, you can trim it to just the part you want. A filmstrip view lets you drag handles to set the start and end, so you feature only the best few seconds.
Browsing and organizing
The Library gives you tools to find things quickly:
- Switch between a grid or list view.
- Search by name and filter by type (photos, videos, icons).
- Sort your items so the ones you want are easy to reach.
The list view adds sortable columns for name, category, file size, and upload date — handy once your Library grows.
Your Library is tied to your account, so your media is there whenever you start a new video.
Opening an item
Click any item to open it full-size and see its details — file name, dimensions, size, and type. From here you can also:
- Set its location by dragging a pin or searching a place (or reading it from the photo's own GPS data), so AvoMap can place it on the map.
- Add a description to find it again later.
- Set it as a symbol icon to drop that photo straight onto the map as a marker.
Tips
- Upload once, reuse often. Add your favorite photos and icons and pull them into any project.
- Trim before you place. A tight, well-chosen clip beats a long one every time.
- Name things clearly. A tidy Library makes building videos much faster.
- Put your uploads to work. Drop a photo or video into an overlay, or set an image as a symbol icon to mark a place on the map.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I upload photos and videos?
Open the Library and upload your files. They're saved to your account and ready to use as overlays or symbols in any video.
Can I trim a video before using it?
Yes. When you add a video as an overlay, drag the handles on the filmstrip to keep just the seconds you want.
Can I add my own vehicle as a 3D model?
Yes. In the 3D tab of your Library you can build a model from four photos of your vehicle, or import a GLB file you already own. It then travels your route like any of the built-in models.
Where are my uploaded files stored?
Everything lives in your Library, tied to your account, so it's available whenever you start a new video.
