Elevation
The Elevation section adds an interactive height profile to your video — perfect for hikes, climbs, cycling routes, and any trip through the mountains. It's all about the ups and downs of your journey.
The elevation chart
The chart lives in the Elevation tab — open it to add the profile to your video, style it with the options below, and use Disable Chart to take it off again when height doesn't matter.
The elevation chart is a graph that shows how high you are at each point of the route. As the video plays, it fills in along with your progress, so viewers can see when you're climbing a steep pass or coasting downhill. It's a great way to tell the story of an effort — the long climb, the summit, the descent — without saying a word.
You can make the chart your own so it fits the look of your video:
- Style – set the colors, size, and overall look of the graph.
- Shading – fill the area under the line for a bolder, more readable profile.
- Bubble – a marker that rides along the line showing your current height as the video plays.
- Axis labels – show distance and height markers along the chart.
- Fly-in / out animation – fade the chart on at the start and off at the end.
If you ever change your route, use Recalculate elevation to refresh the profile.
Tips
- Turn the chart on for climbs. For hikes and mountain rides, the elevation profile adds real drama.
- Leave it off for flat trips. If your route is mostly level, the chart adds little — keep the screen clean.
- Style it to match. Set the chart's colors and shading so it sits naturally over your map.
- Play up the terrain. Pair the profile with 3D terrain in the Layers tab and a slow camera climb to sell the elevation.
